Although a distant concept till a few years back, now it is hard to feel the completeness of celebrations without a wedding DJ. There are several things that must be discussed with your wedding DJ so that nothing goes out of place.
Here are the five most significant points.
- Be upfront about your choice
You must be very clear about what music you want the DJ to play and suggest to them the songs or tracks that you wish to be played from the start to the end. If you have a playlist on your mind and you want the DJ to go by that particular playlist only, then let the DJ know that too. Most of the DJs usually play from their curated list of songs, unless otherwise directed.
- Plan out each category
Talk to the DJ about the kind of songs that they must play during every phase of the wedding. Starting from prelude music during the main ceremony and the music for the cocktail party during the reception, to the first couple-dance and the dinner party, chalk out all the tracks that must be played.
- Requests from guests
Many people want that the wedding DJs play only the songs that they have set aside for the event, and not accept on-the-spot requests from the guests. If you also want the same, then you must inform the DJ beforehand so that they can tactfully decline song requests without coming off as rude or harsh to the guests.
- Keep a DO NOT PLAY list
So that everything remains in absolute sync, setting the right chord with the ambiance, you might not want a certain kind of music to be played. Depending on your preferences, create a DO NOT PLAY list that will contain exclusive songs which must not be played at any time during the event. Make sure you provide the DJ with that list and they keep that in mind.
- Dress code
If you want that the wedding DJ also dresses in accordance to the theme of your wedding, then make sure to ask them if they have that flexibility or policy. Many DJs have their own set of uniform as per their company policy and they might not like to deviate from that norm.
It works best if you can meet up well beforehand and make plans with your wedding DJ. After all, it’s YOUR day and you must ensure that the DJ sets in the perfect party mood and enlivens the ambiance for all who are present there.
